Workbase - The New Zealand Centre for Workforce Literacy Development is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in improving workforce literacy. They develop tailored literacy solutions, supporting government and company initiatives by working together with businesses, unions, industry training and tertiary education organisations.
They wanted a web site that would enable them to communicate quickly, easily and clearly with their different audiences. Being able to publish and organise content themselves, including the ability to add new sections, menu items, photos and documents, was a key part of their brief.
After thorough analysis and planning we provided an extensive web-based content management system (CMS) that met and exceeded their initial brief. The CMS was designed with maximum ease of use and flexibility in mind using SQL Server and .NET development tools.
The clear and logical user interface is a great example of effective information architecture practices. Public users could find information quickly and administrative staff delighted on how intuitive and easy it was to update information on the site.
The system allows for huge growth in site content and files for users to download. Careful infrastructure planning and great hosting means that data is always backed-up and secure, with solid site recovery solutions in place.
The keys to producing an effective content management system are to make it easy to use; flexible enough to allow for future growth and to make sure that the data driving the site is secure and dependable.
